MACDAS (Macquarie University Dark Ages Society) is a historical re-enactment group based at Macquarie University, on Sydney’s lower north shore. We recreate the period of Anglo Saxon England, which begins with the Romans leaving Britain and lasts until 1066 (the beginning of the middle ages). We also accommodate other periods and regions (most notably pirates). MacDAS focuses on cultivating skills that would have been historically relevant, such as making clothing, leatherwork, armouring and historical martial arts.
MacDas Meets every Tuesday in front of the Light House Theatre at Macquarie Uni, from 12:00 until 3:00. During this time we discuss history, train in medieval weapons, make our own gear and generally have a good time.
